{"id":354,"date":"2014-08-07T09:12:30","date_gmt":"2014-08-07T14:12:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.georgetownshores.org\/private\/blog\/?p=354"},"modified":"2014-08-07T09:12:30","modified_gmt":"2014-08-07T14:12:30","slug":"a-note-from-a-resident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.georgetownshores.org\/private\/blog\/?p=354","title":{"rendered":"A note from a resident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Dear Neighbors,<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">It has come to the attention of some of the residents that quite a few neighborhood residents are utilizing the private lake residents beaches for fishing. Most neighbors have kept a &#8220;blind eye&#8221; to it and occasionally have even spoken to the neighbors to lay out more stringent ground rules about the uninvited use of the lake resident&#8217;s waterside property.\u00a0 This uninvited practice of using neighbors beaches is reportedly, getting out of hand.\u00a0 Many times children are not being monitored, fishing practices are sometimes poor, hooks and fishing gear are being left for the lake owners to clean up, and the lake residents are worried about the liability involved if someone gets hurt on their property\/falls in and get injured off their dock.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Recently, a young boy caught a beautiful bass out of the lake and proceeded to drag it across the beach in attempt to get it off the hook.\u00a0 When he was asked if his parents could help him fish next time, since he did not know how to take a fish off the hook, he explained he did not live here but lives &#8220;across the way&#8221; and he did not feel like touching the fish he catches. This kind of activity is reportedly happening more frequently at the lake. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">This is just an e-mail reminder that both Little GS Lake and East GS Lake are PRIVATE lakes and for use by residents.\u00a0 Those residents who do not have frontage are free to use the Association access by the boat launch and beach area or by invitation by a resident with frontage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Also, we want to stress safety on our roads.\u00a0\u00a0 The roads of GS are not private but public thoroughfares and so respect needs to be used. With the recent tragedy of the Grand Rapids area child death and the second child&#8217;s severe injury <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">(See article on Mlive <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mlive.com\/news\/grand-rapids\/index.ssf\/2014\/07\/girl_10_killed_when_golf_cart.html\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">http:\/\/www.mlive.com\/news\/grand-rapids\/index.ssf\/2014\/07\/girl_10_killed_when_golf_cart.html<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">) we want to remind residents that the state of Michigan has regulations for golf carts. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Some residents have noted, again, the improper use of golf carts by children in our neighborhood.\u00a0 This is just to remind residents that the operator of a golf cart must have a driver license and the vehicle must be registered and insured if they are diving it on the street. These vehicles are not for the use on the sidewalks where children are playing.
