A note from our new Treatment Company

Good Afternoon EGSLA Members,

Today’s treatment went great, we had great weather leading to a very thorough treatment.  The treatment area was very similar to the previous treatment in May.  In the areas that produce most of the growth I noticed a lot of Milfoil, Curly Leaf Pondweed, Sago Pondweed and Floating Leaf Pond Weed.  The Milfoil had spread in size compared to previous treatment but where the Milfoil was treated previously I am noticing very promising results.  In many areas the remaining Milfoil was significantly damage with just the stems still present, these should drop and be mostly gone in a week or two.  The Curly Leaf and Sago will drop in about 10-14 days, both Sago and Curly Leaf are invasive but very common this time of year.  I treated the Floating Leaf in a way to stunt the growth but not eliminate entirely at this point.  The reason for this type of treatment is due to the presence of the Milfoil.  Floating Leaf is a native plant so I will not take over the lake but eliminating right now could lead to the Milfoil spreading to these areas which we want to avoid.  I am confident the Milfoil will respond nicely to this treatment and doing so I will target the native pondweed more aggressively next treatment.

Comparing East Georgetown to West you can definitely tell that your lake was neglected last year.  Please be patient and I will get East Georgetown Shores back to the condition that everyone wants to see it.  Keep me posted with any updates.  The next scheduled treatment is July 17th and I will be out prior to treatment for a survey.

Thank You,

2019 Water Treatment Schedule

We have posted the updated Water Treatment Schedule for 2019.  This year we will be using a new company for this service. The new company is Clear Water Lake Management. Please give us feedback on the locations that are needing extra treatment. The details can be found on the far left tab at the top of the main members web page.

These dates are subject to some variance based on weather and signage will be placed around the lake when treatment is performed.

Invitation for GS to Community Ride Night at Action Wake Park

We just got this invitation from Action Water Sports:

We would like to extend an invitation to all the Georgetown Shores residents to ride Action Wake Park for FREE next Wednesday (June 20th) from 4-8pm. We’ve started a new series of community ride nights that are being held every Wednesday and next week is Georgetown Shores night! Riding in the cable park is FREE and it also includes FREE rentals as well. Guests simply come in their bathing suits and Action will cover the rest!

This is simply an opportunity for Action Water Sports to show our appreciation for all the business and support Georgetown Shores families have offered us. The only thing we ask is that guests sign up through the link below. This will help us differentiate between Georgetown Shores guests, and wake park customers on Wednesday night.

BRINGING FAMILIES TOGETHER

Special Assessment for Entrance Sign

We have been talking about updating the entrance signs for many years.  When the Association was turned over from the Developer to the Residents, we started with a small cash reserve.  We have been working that up for emergency purposes and also working on capital improvements that have come along each year.  Each of those items have been notated on the yearly budget we send with the statement in January.

The wood entrance signs were placed originally two at the corner of VanBuren & 16th in Phase 1, one at the corner of 14th & Ponstein in Phase 2, and one at the corner of 18th & Edson in Phase 6.

The board has approved a new sign design and it was presented at the Annual Informational Meeting.  (Copies of the design are attached at the back of this document)  The design has us replacing the 4 entrance signs with 3.  One facing west at VanBuren & 16th, one facing north at 14th & Ponstein, and one facing north at 18th & Edson.

There is a special issue with the one at 18th & Edson in that the existing sign and berm that is there is in the path of the sidewalk for our new residents that are just moving in and the TWP is requiring us to move the signage to our easement on that corner and off the road ROW.  This must be done now.

The cost for all 3 entrance signs will be approximately $50,000 (some will be $18K some will be $15K).  We are asking residents to vote on a special assessment to fund this specific project.

This project has been approved by the board and the board is recommending to collect a $200 per lot special assessment for this project.  This will allow us to get the project completed in 2017.

Should we collect a $200 Special Assessment for the Entrance Signs to update them now? (that is $48,600)

Township Sidewalk Hearing Notice for Edson

The Georgetown Township Board is holding a Public Hearing next Monday, July 24, 2017 at 7:30 pm, regarding putting in sidewalks on both sides of Edson Dr.

Many EGSLA members regularly walk, run or bike along Edson in their trips around the lake.  As you know, Edson Dr can be busy with autos and dangerous for those on foot or bike.

More information about this can be found here Edson Sidewalk Public Hearing Notice
