Traffic Alert

Traffic patterns routed into GS Development!!

Background:

As phase 4 of the GS development was opened up, residents started seeing more and more through traffic on 16th Ave. in the development. At that time the advisory committee suggested to the developer that the lot that would continue 18th Ave be sold for a house and that North Bay would route around the pond and would then come out on Edson. The developer agreed that this would be a good idea and proposed this to the Georgetown Township Planning commission in mid 2005. We submitted a letter in this regard that can be found here.

The Township planning commission told us that they observed the traffic pattern and the only cars that were traveling through our development were cars that were destined for houses on 16th Ave and North Bay. They declined the request to close the street.Since this time the layout of Phase 6 has changed and there is no longer a street that goes all the way around the pond.

Now:

Phase 6 is completed and the road closed signs were just taken down on Nov. 20th. They have placed a stop sign on Edson but no stop or directional sign for 18th Ave. I have called the Ottawa County Road Commission and have been told that the traffic flow for 18th Ave is now down North Bay and down 16th Ave.

This road is not constructed to handle this type of traffic and cars are generally parked on the street. I have also contacted Georgetown township and asked that this be reviewed along with sending a copy of the background letter. More to follow.

Docks and Shorestations

Remember that all docks and shorestations are to be removed from the water by Nov 1st.  This is for the protection of your equipment but mostly to ensure that items are not frozen in the lake over the winter months.  It can be very dangerous for someone to hit an object that is frozen in the ice if they were on a snowmobile or ice skating.

Have a great winter

GSLA Blog is back

Well after having issues with my server and completely redoing in and upgrading the OS, I found that I did not back up the blog database.  🙁  So this is a completely new Blog and I will spend some time now updating the information on it.
