Figure 8 Barefoot Date Change

The date for the last event will be the Figure 8 Barefoot Tournament on Saturday September 26 (please note date change).

This is a fun competition to watch since It’s just so intense to watch these people on their feet.  If you’ve never seen it before, come and watch the excitement.

It is a sport when described to the common man or even another skier, often begets the response…

Why would you want to do that?
It is all about the competition.

The tournament is explained on this site.

Call for input on Tennis Court and Pool idea.

An idea has been presented to the Advisory Committee of Putting in some Community Tennis Courts (Phase I) and/or a Community Pool (Phase II) for the residents of GS.

The idea is to look at the two lots on the corner of 18th and North Bay.  These lots are not desirable to the developer since they do not have a walkout ability and one is a corner lot.

We could not require the capital so it would be voluntary and only those who participate will have access.
The idea is:

Tennis Courts (Phase 1)
————————-
$35k… tennis concrete
$5k-nets/equip, painting
$10k… fencing

$50k… total

Round up to $55k.

Pool (Phase 2)
—————-
$35k… pool, heater, chlorine generator w/ digital readout, 3′ concrete around, etc.
$15k… concrete for pool area/patio ($3/sq ft)
$8k… pool fencing… black aluminum
$25k… bathhouse.
$3k… furniture
$20k… landscaping
$10k… irrigation
$3k… safety lighting

$119k… total

Round up to $130k for contingency.

(Attached is a preliminary sketch)
Total of $185k for both… round up to $200k should legitimately cover it, without property cost.

This idea cannot be done with the funds of our existing Annual dues and would need to be set up as a new voluntary membership and capital drive.  Today we have a little more than 200 lots sold in our association and there are a total of a few more than 300 total.

Just an example of how this could be set up is $2,000 per home (if we get 1/3 of the total lots) and then a $100 yearly maintenance charge for operations and taxes.

We are asking for input if we proceed any further than were we are with this idea or just let it drop.  What do you think?
