Dear Neighbors,
It has come to the attention of some of the residents that quite a few neighborhood residents are utilizing the private lake residents beaches for fishing. Most neighbors have kept a “blind eye” to it and occasionally have even spoken to the neighbors to lay out more stringent ground rules about the uninvited use of the lake resident’s waterside property. This uninvited practice of using neighbors beaches is reportedly, getting out of hand. Many times children are not being monitored, fishing practices are sometimes poor, hooks and fishing gear are being left for the lake owners to clean up, and the lake residents are worried about the liability involved if someone gets hurt on their property/falls in and get injured off their dock.
Recently, a young boy caught a beautiful bass out of the lake and proceeded to drag it across the beach in attempt to get it off the hook. When he was asked if his parents could help him fish next time, since he did not know how to take a fish off the hook, he explained he did not live here but lives “across the way” and he did not feel like touching the fish he catches. This kind of activity is reportedly happening more frequently at the lake.
This is just an e-mail reminder that both Little GS Lake and East GS Lake are PRIVATE lakes and for use by residents. Those residents who do not have frontage are free to use the Association access by the boat launch and beach area or by invitation by a resident with frontage.
Also, we want to stress safety on our roads. The roads of GS are not private but public thoroughfares and so respect needs to be used. With the recent tragedy of the Grand Rapids area child death and the second child’s severe injury
(See article on Mlive http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2014/07/girl_10_killed_when_golf_cart.html) we want to remind residents that the state of Michigan has regulations for golf carts.
Some residents have noted, again, the improper use of golf carts by children in our neighborhood. This is just to remind residents that the operator of a golf cart must have a driver license and the vehicle must be registered and insured if they are diving it on the street. These vehicles are not for the use on the sidewalks where children are playing. Also, Michigan mandates the equipment required for vehicles to be street legal. For a golf cart to be street legal, it must be upgraded to have all of the equipment listed on the TR-54 Vehicle Inspection form for 4-wheel vehicles including low beam headlights, high beam headlights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, windshield, windshield wipers, bumpers, seat belts, horn, mirrors, etc. In the past, some residents have called the police to report children driving golf carts in EGTS erratically and it is in their right to do so.
Be Respectful, Be Safe, and enjoy the Summer!!
Thank You!
