Sidewalk Snow Removal

Wow, what a snow storm we had on Ground Hog Day 2011.  Hardly knew it was Ground Hog Day with all the news of the Blizzard.

This is just a reminder that the Georgetown Township requires that sidewalks are kept clear of snow after each accumulation of 1″ or more.  We realize this is quite a job with this type of snowfall but want to encourage our residents to keep the sidewalks clear for our kids in the neighborhood.

Also, remember to dig out the fire hydrant if there is one near your home.

Resident Only Fishing

GS Residents,

There are many ice fishermen out on the ice recently and it is nice that our residents can go out and fish during these winter months.  However there are reports that some of the fishermen do not live here and are just parking on the streets and walking out on the lake.

A number of residents spent substantial money stocking the lake with fish over the past number of years and the most recent planting was just this past October.  A delivery of 455 walleyes were delivered and planted in the lake for all of us residents.  These fish need to get a chance to grow so please return them if you catch one but also they are placed in the lake for the fun and enjoyment of the residents and close friends, not everyone who decides they want to fish here.

We want to encourage you if you see those from outside to either talk to them nicely and tell them that this is a private lake or at least attach this document to their vehicle.

Thank you.

Most recent Trash Carrier Proposals

For those who are still on the fence about moving from Waste Management I wanted to summarize the most recent offers from Arrowaste and EverKept.

Arrowaste sent this update on Friday Dec. 3:

Thanks for the information.  Just to clarify our recycle program.  We are going to offer all residents of Georgetown Shores a 96gal recycle cart included in the original prices we quoted.  If they do not wish to use a 96gal cart for recycling they can still choose whatever container they want.  I know you signed up for recycling I would like to get you a cart, I will have it delivered today or tomorrow.  Also we will offer the rate of $7.00 per month if they for the year in advance or if they pay quarterly.

Just to clarify;

96gal cart for Trash          $7.00/mo

96gal cart for Recycle        $2.00/mo

96gal cart for YW             $7.00/mo  (just billed for 8 months $56 for the season)

No Fee’s, price is all inclusive.

Thanks and have a great day,

Letter from EverKept on Sat. Dec. 4:

I understand this is an undesirable situation for you.  It wasn’t our intention to cause you so much grief.  These circumstances were unforeseen by you, and certainly offer up unique circumstances.  We felt that delivering the carts would give a tangible understanding of what EverKept is offering- specifically the 96 gallon recycling cart.  We are very passionate about what we do, we are excited about the impact it makes on the environment and the local economy.

Understanding this was disagreeable, and completely out of your control, it presents an opportunity to understand our services.  Left with this situation, and the new realization of how many families EverKept already serves has changed things.  Certainly in regards to Arrowaste and your previous arrangement.  Looking back at the advisory boards original intent of providing better pricing and one hauler the current circumstances serve those intentions.

As of current, many families have already started up service and some have called to have their carts removed, or removed until this is sorted out.  We have our delivery drivers promptly serving multiple times per day in this effort.  We understand  this puts the board in an unpleasant situation of recommending what is best for the residents, in light of your previous arrangements.

Please find the attached copy of our recycle cart guidelines and a copy of the recycle schedule. Feel free to share them with the residents.  The attached information is recycle and redrecyclecalender.

Sincerely,

Chad Stoub

Trash Bid – Letter from Arrowaste

Many  still contact me about this Trash hauler bid. We requested bids from 5 providers, all 5 provided us proposals and we compared them in good faith.  EGSLA still recommends the proposal of Arrowaste and a letter from them can be found here Georgetownshores-Letter-from-Arrowaste. As we have always mentioned, this is your choice.  If you want more information and details you can read below.

I was out of town today and just got home at 8:00 tonight. I see that a new letter from EverKept has been delivered to all the residents. This offers another price reduction to get residents to keep the bins they have already been delivered. I guess having an open bidding contest is achieving one of the Committee’s goals of saving money.  I have gotten calls while on the road today from both of the owners of EverKept and as you can see they are passionate about their service.  They claim we did not give them a fair comparison but they original provided us nothing other than the much higher bid.

I also have gotten a letter and phone call from Arrowaste and it is attached Georgetownshores-Letter-from-Arrowaste. Russ said today and they still plan on honoring their original proposal and look forward to providing service in to our residents.  As stated in their letter, they are waiting for our residents to call or e-mail.
